Visiting other schools

Students of any Kim's Taekwondo school are always welcome to visit other Kim's schools for training. Your paid tuition covers all schools. For courtesy's sake, when possible let your instructor know that you might visit another school so s/he can let the other instructor know ahead of time. Getting pointers from other martial arts experts is always a great way to round out your training.

There are about 50 schools now under Master Kim. Here is a list of web addresses that I have for a few, where you can read about the instructors, find out about class times, and get more information about Taekwondo in general:

Front Kick: The Forgotten Weapon

For some reason, less experienced students tend to forget about front kick during sparring matches. They often rely on side kick and round kick, even when the angle is wrong and a front kick would have been simpler, faster, and easier. Maybe the problem is that from a beginner’s point of view, front kick is not so simple. It does require some skill to produce a proper front kick weapon, and many students struggle with pulling their toes back far enough. This article offers some ways to build those muscles and perfect that front kick. But remember, the black belts have such beautiful weapons of the foot because they’ve spent years developing them.
